Bonobos Pop-Up Retail Store

Course: IDES 452 / Interior Design IV

2012

Objective: Design a traveling pop-up retail store for Bonobos, an online men’s clothing store. These temporary stores would travel through cities introducing the public to their clothing in a brick and mortar setting. Final design to be entered in the PAVE 3D Student Design Competition.

Concept: Create an environment of pixilation referencing the Bonobos web based platform. The front wall uses square voids and light to emphasize pixelation. Correlating orthogonal displays define circulation, display clothing, and provide storage. They interlock for easy transportation on castor wheels and conform to a variety of spaces.

The clean lines of the displays reflect the tailored sensibility of the clothing, while the natural materials do not distract from the colorful clothing palette. Customers are encouraged to connect with Bonobos on a social media site streamed behind the check out counter. A discount would be given when customers connect with and post a picture of themselves in the store to the site.

Execution: Prismacolor renderings on vellum, drafted in AutoCAD
