Course: IDES 353 / Interior Design II
Objective: Design a Morimoto restaurant in a specified empty warehouse.
Concept: Create a space influenced by the refracted imagery found when looking through a sake glass. This influenced the use of spot lighting, bursts of color, translucent material, and linear screens to define space. Areas include main dining, a sushi bar, tea ceremony, special dining, quiet dining, reception, cocktail bar, a kitchen, and server stations. The final floor plan was realized by overlapping two different schemes. This duality was influenced by the restaurant’s cuisine of Japanese and Western food fusion.
